William Elliott Whitmore to Release ANIMALS IN THE DARK Feb 2009 – Tour with Murder By Death Starts 10/23

By Gina · 2 Comments

Iowa’s son of the soil William Elliott Whitmore is set to release his ANTI debut Animals In The Dark on February 17th 2009. Less a reflection of love and loss and the cycles of the land as seen from his horse farm on the banks of the Mississippi, Will’s new release moves from the themes that populated his earlier work to a more critical worldview. “Mutiny” and “Old Devils” read like the most ire-filled political anthems, yet Animals In The Dark has more in common with the preacher blues of Reverend Gary Davis or the romantic populism of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska than it does a Billy Bragg record.

Animals In The Dark Tracklisting:

Mutiny – 4:03
Who stole the soul – 3:26
Johnny law – 4:30
Old devils – 3:39
Hell or high water – 2:31
There’s hope for you – 5:43

That’s great news! I’m excited to hear something new from Will. Wish he was coming closer to Cincinnati than weeknight shows in Cbus and Lville. Those are long hauls if I end up taking shots of Jack Daniels with him like last time.
