Tom Waits Records with Preservation Hall Jazz Band

By John · 4 Comments

Tom Waits is currently down in the crescent city of New Orleans recording a benefit track with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. It’s been a two year project by the legendary band intended to raise money for the historic French Quarter Hall and keep the rollicking big easy music tradition alive.

The prolific Mister Waits will also be recording a song for Anti’s volume 2 Sea Shanty record produced by Hal Wilner with an assortment of other musicians.

I swear I saw someone that looked like Tom Waits in at the Cattleman’s Steakhouse just outside of El Paso in May of 2008. I later looked over some recent photos of him and came to the conclusion that it problaby was him. Had I know I would have shaked his hand and paid for his meal. Does anyone know if this guy visits such places? Does Mr. Waits read these comments – perhaps clarify this debate?

Woah! A 2nd shanty record? With Tom Waits on it? That’s great! I look forward to it; I loved volume one.

Even though it’s just a toy…youhave to wodner where the guy’s mind was when he started posing with that demon rod for this photo shoot. Was he thinking of Miles Davis’ album cover? Not to stir any more worm infested soil up…but Glitter and Doom was the title of an art show at the Met….2006-7, about German painters in the twenties…
I know….no more free pretzels for me at the Anti stand….
