If you dug last year’s Grinderman – what Nick Cave called an excuse to “head down to the basement and shout” – then you will love the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds song “Dig, Lazarus, Dig!” off their same-titled record, out April 8th. If you didn’t dig Grinderman, well, you were the only person on the PLANET who didn’t, and you will still love the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds song “Dig, Lazarus, Dig!” because it rocks in a way that recent NC&TBS records have not. Gone (mostly) is the piano and Cave’s quest for “the classic love song” (his words, not ours). Instead, he has given us “a hemorrhaging of words and ideas,” told with guitars, a couple of chords and a nasty/swampy beat that will not be denied.
