Stephen Carroll, John Samson, Greg Smith, and Jason Tait, known collectively as the Weakerthans, wrote an amazing song for last year’s Reunion Tour, entitled “Night Windows.”
In their infinite wisdom, Canada’s SOCAN (the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers, though I’m not sure how one gets “socaN” out of that) has nominated the song as one of the best of the year. “The prize honours some of the most innovative, creative and artistic songs created in the past year by independent songwriters in Canada.”
The five nominees where chosen by a panel of “respected, knowledgeable tastemakers” from the music community, but you can help pick the obvious winner by clicking here to vote for the Weakerthans.

Can’t the CAN in SOCAN also stand for “Canada?”
Good for them though!
